I want to share some E&I lessons learned here.

The sources for electrical power should be considered early in a project as they can have huge impacts on project costs and cause schedule delays due to evaluating alternatives.

PLC and DCS program changes require considerable time and effort.  The management team must schedule start dates and define durations that support C&SU and process operator training.

Thorough communication between DCS Programmer and the Process Engineer is very important to assure proper design and to enable proper testing prior to commissioning.

For existing facilities and brownfield projects, the condition of existing wire ways and trays should be evaluated through field walk downs and inspections to ensure that control and power wiring are properly separated.  In some cases, new trays / cable ways may be needed.
