Lessons Learned – Scope of Work Assumptions and Clarifications

asked May 24, 2015 in Engineering by Normandy (21,040 points)

When estimating the project hours for proposal requested by the client, the followings should be assumed at the very least to avoid underestimate and later trying to do MOC asking for more hours.

  • Resource loaded schedule
  • All engineering disciplines breakdown and all areas
  • Number of documents/drawings updates allowed from client
  • Delayed RFI that pushes engineering activities further out and add more manhours
  • 10% allowance for design & engineering, etc.

When the project is about to start, ensure Work Authorization is approved by the client prior to executing work.

In addition, work based on good faith cannot justify for MOC if there are changes.
