The Catenary Riser is to allow transportation of fluids and gases to a fixed or floating offshore facility (shuttle tanker) from a pipeline on the seabed, or vice-versa.
The fluids can be one of the followings:
- Single or multi-phase fluids and gases from production wells
- Stabilized fluids and gases to be exported from the facility
- Water or gas for injection or re-injection
- Gas-lift from the facility
In an idle mode, the Catenary Riser should be lowered onto the seabed.
It should be made of the same construction as the vertical riser and should have bending stiffeners with end fittings at either end.
The lower end should be connected to the subsea swivel/gooseneck and the other end should terminate at the coupling head for connection to the shuttle tanker.
