The riser base should enable the riser foot to be attached to it by means of a clamped adapter. Lifting lugs and ears should be provided for the installation of the riser base and foot and for the mating operation during installation.
The riser foot should be the female part of the main connection/disconnection. It should consist of a ball valve and a collet connector surrounded by steel framework.
The collet connector should have a locking device and a lip seal, with capability for hydraulic operation as well as manual override.
In addition to in-place design, the riser base foot design should consider installation-related impact forces.
Fatigue calculations should also be carried out for the riser base and foot.
