The Rig Skidding System shall be capable of skidding the DES and Skid Base with full set back load. It:

  • Includes two lateral rig skidding systems with control panels

The rig skidding system typically includes two separate gripper jack systems. The upper skid system is comprised of two gripper jacks installed on each side of the skid base structure in order to skid the upper DES in the North-South direction. The lower skid system will also is comprised of two gripper jacks installed on each side of the capping beam in order to skid the entire DES structure in the East-West direction.

Skid system requirements (Example for a platform with more than thirty well bay slots arranged in a 4x8 pattern):

  • Ability to travel and average speed of 1 m/s
  • Ability to skid in the North-South direction a minimum distance of 18 m
  • Ability to skid in the East-West direction a minimum distance of 30 m
  • Skid System to include following:
  • Separate rig skidding HPU operating at 5,000 psi
  • Control box
  • Two upper gripper jacks sized for upper DES Load
  • Two Lower gripper jacks sixed for entire DES including skidbase
