Transfer of fluid/gas from the stem of a FPSO to the bow of the export tanker.

Tandem offloading can be performed with a hose and hawser handling system with dedicated DP shuttle tankers.

It is very important to take into account the possibility of sudden changes in the environment, such as wind squalls and tide-rips.

Depending on the sea conditions, the vessel of opportunity or a dedicated tanker can approach the forward or the back of the FPSO, then it is tethered by a hawser line downstream from the FPSO. The floating hose is connected to the export vessel and then the oil/gas is transfered from the FPSO to the export tanker.

The export tanker is also being assisted by tug(s) to maintain a set distance from the FPSO and to prevent it from moving toward the FPSO due to sea conditions.
