The Catenary Anchor Leg Mooring (CALM) buoy is typically moored a distance (approximately) 2 km away from the FPSO, downwind of the FPSO. The export tanker will be approaching the buoy opposite the FPSO and will be assisted by one or more tugs. During the approach, the assisting tug is connected to the export tanker to ensure it stops. When the export tanker is in position and stable, the tug will go to the forward and connect the hawser between the buoy and the tanker, and subsequently the floating hose. Hereafter, the tug will be on stand-by for connection for hold-back or disconnection operations.
